A Poster Show for Bike People

Wanted: Poster Artists for ARTCRANK ATX & MSP

Having oh so recently put the finishing touches on an amazing, exhausting 2011 event schedule, you’d be forgiven for thinking that we’d spend the balance of the year being kneaded into whimpering submission by a team of merciless Teutonic masseuses. Nonsense! While there’s breath in our bodies and air in our tires, we’re spreading the bike art gospel far and wide. So with apologies to L-tryptophan, professional football and Black Friday, we’re jumping the gun this Thanksgiving week with some pretty big news.

ARTCRANK comes to Austin!
First, we’re more excited than Rick Perry at two-for-one gun sale to announce our first-ever ARTCRANK in Austin, Texas. Negotiations with a host venue are underway, and we’re shooting for an Opening Night Party on Friday, February 24.

While cities like Portland and Minneapolis might get the lion’s share of attention when it comes to American bike Meccas, Austin is spawning a passionate cycling culture, with a creative community that’s second to none. We fell head over heels in love with the town in the two days we spent scouting locations, and we know it’s going to be a show for the ages.

Though there are many i’s to be dotted and t’s to be crossed, our first order of business is picking a roster of local artists to create hand-made, bike-inspired poster awesomeoness. If that sounds like you, check out the Call For Entries verbiage on the ARTCRANK Austin page.

ARTCRANK returns to Minneapolis!
It seems like just yesterday that our little Poster Party for Bike People took its first stumbling steps at One On One Bicycle Studio with all the grace of a newborn giraffe. But sure enough, the sixth edition of ARTCRANK Minneapolis looms on the horizon.

And while we’re still in search of the perfect venue for this year’s opening night bike art bacchanalia, our Call For Entries is now open. The competition for spots is going to be tougher than ever, so get your best work ready and check out the ARTCRANK Minneapolis page right. this. minute. for details.

Onward and upward!
