ARTCRANK will make its long awaited New York City debut at Bicycle Habitat in SoHo, Manhattan on Thursday, August 9, 2012. The show will feature hand-made, bike-inspired posters created by 25 artists from The City That Never Sleeps. Admission is free, and limited edition, signed and numbered copies of all posters will be available for $40 each.

Where you find bikes, you’re sure to find beer, and ARTCRANK New York is no exception. At the show, a selection of craft beers by Widmer Brothers Brewing will be available in exclusive ARTCRANK pint glasses, with proceeds going to Streetsblog and Streetfilms, organizations that have covered and inspired the movement to transform New York and other cities into better places to live, work and play.

Attendees will also have a chance to enter a raffle to win a new 2013 Roll 8 bike, donated by Globe Bikes, to benefit the organization. All proceeds from the sale of the ARTCRANK NYC show poster by Big Table Studios will benefit Streetsblog and Streetfilms as well, thanks to a contribution by Neenah Paper. And free, secure bike parking will be provided by Clif Bar.

“Finally making it to New York feels like a watershed moment for us,” says ARTCRANK founder Charles Youel. “New York has always had a stellar creative community, of course. And with the city going all-in on bike lanes and a bike share program, this feels like the perfect time to celebrate cycling at a shop that’s been a leader in the NYC bike scene and in a neighborhood with its own historic roots in arts and gallery spaces.”

ARTCRANK is on a mission to make art and bikes more accessible across the U.S. and beyond, a journey that’s taken Youel and his partners from Minneapolis to Portland, San Francisco, Austin, Denver and even London. “Riding a bike is a form of creative expression,” says Youel, “Even if you ride the same streets every day, the experience is always different. I’m amazed by the way people channel that sense of freedom and possibility into poster designs, and I can’t wait to see what our New York artists come up with.”

Wednesday, August 8: ARTCRANK Artists Party at Randolph Beer 
Join a gathering of the ARTCRANK NYC artists, partners and friends at Randolph Beer from 7:00pm – 9:00pm to enjoy specials on appetizers and craft beer by Widmer Brothers Brewing. We’ll be offering sneak previews of some of the posters from the event as well. We’ll also be heading to Randolph beer for a wrap party on Thursday night after we close our show down at 11:00pm.
